    WHAT ARE HEROIC SOULS?

Heroic souls according to Trion developer Adam Gershowitz are classes that can not be acquired by character creation. Their intention is not for these souls to be more powerful but to be more specialized for a particular role.

Faelor's "I don't understand what Heroic Souls are still!"
A heroic soul is a very defined soul. Let's take the Bard. After viewing their entire Soul Tree, it is evident they bring almost only buffs, debuffs, and a few other abilities (such as healing). They don't have abilities to dish out massive damage, to absorb damage, or what have you. Their defined role is a buffer and debuffer, they strengthen their allies and weaken their opponents (with a splash weak heals and crowd-control, VERY minor). If you want something more, you need to spend Soul Points in other souls.

I'm not a mathemagician, but if you look at the 1234 tabs at the bottom, it seems to suggest that there will be at least 25 classes.

I think in previous interviews it's been said that there will be a number of classes people can select, but that they can also blend them together.

The Gravelord was probably the first subclass announced way back when Rift was first announced. There's also the Berserker, possibly a Paladin, and maybe something like a non-combat Jester class. Of course, this may have all changed but it's what's been out there for a while now.

It sure sounds like the concept hasn't changed from what they were originally were doing? There are definitely more main classes but the 'hundreds of combinations' is only possible if they have some variant of the subclass system?

A wiki is only as good as its contributors won't you help?

I think we can assume that with the addition of the Bard image from the High Elf race page that the Bard class will (Thank God) be making it into the game.

My guess is the "subclass card" system is gone. You actually progress through your class.

That's definitely a good point and may be the case. If there are 32 subclasses and 4 core classes, that's still only 32 classes, definitely not hundreds unless you can mix and match. Although, keep in mind they may also be referring to crafting classes and "Jester" classes which may not be restricted to a core class. Blacksmith x 4 = 4 blacksmith classes, Alchemist x 4 = 4 alchemist classes, etc. It adds up.

The Dev Diary Video stats there is still going to be a some sort of subclass system.

Well, in the new dev diary, they spoke about "absorbing souls" and making those souls part of yourself. It's still there... in some form.

Not sure how well you are at math, but first page shows 8 classes. So thinking the next few pages also show 8 classes. That is 32 classes in all.

    Nah, Europe is right. 8 on page 1, 8 on page 2, 8 on page 3 = 24. Page 4 could have between 1 (25 subclasses total) or 8 (32 subclasses total.)

So many classes is going to be a big challenge when balancing the game. Its a slippery slope and every tweek to the game impacts "ranking". Lot of variables to keep an eye one.
