I wont be a marksman ranger melee all they way but will be the ranger calling then sword style .

My alt is the guilds tank ... (Reaver)
I may change my mind ;) If the rumors of a Rogue who can even off-tank decently are true, I may go back to the calling. You can guarantee that if I do go Warrior as my main, the Scout will be my primary alt no questions asked.

I definitely remember having to off-tank as a Ranger. Fun times!

    Thanks for the post

Look at the blade dancer and marry it with a ranger and pet ... the blade dancer could effectively be a dodge/parry off tank for CC while the others deal with the hard stuff. I bet if i spec it right i could do what i did best in EQ1 ... that is the hope.

Perhaps ;) I rather not be consider a 24 second tank, if you get my drift.

anyone know if the pet summon spells get ranks like other spells?

it would be interesting if the level 5, 16 or whatever pets could level up to higher levels with higher spell ranks.

or is this really like old school pet classes where your pet's level lags behind your character and their max level is a fixed cap.

I hope it is that any pet can level up to max level (with higher ranked summon spells) and the higher point pets have more abilities and better stats.

Well i noticed that the two lesser summons said they could be a max of lvl 24 or so and then at that lvl you could get the non lesser version. So I am thinking that the ranger doesnt tame pets but has a Dire wolf (dps maybe?) and a Razorbeast (tank maybe?) that level up as he does or that are just auto the same lvl that the ranger is when it is summoned. Oh and there is a Blood raptor as the 31 point talent. All of this is guess work of course and can change if true.

I would love to see a assasin build much like how DAOC pulled off the Inf,SB and NS. Stealth is necessary but needs to be added with care...

Having one or two stealthers as scouts or to begin an attack on soft targets before the main group rolls in adds a lot to group and guild strategy and combat. I'm sure all the clothies are going to bash this but overall I feel it adds to the experience.

    Default Rangers Lead the Way

I will definitely start with a ranger class. Ranged DPS is critical for PvE groups and (I think) becomes even more critical in PvP. As far as the mentions of dual-wielding made on this thread, I don't think it's necessary. I mean, each class does need SOME weakness; that's one of the main things that encourages social gameplay and cooperation (i.e. the light armor class requirement).

For example, in AoC I always believed a well-built ranger was waaaay more powerful than an assassin b/c the ranger could sneak, track, and dispatch players in PvP extremely fast. They also made it tougher to kill rangers by allowing us to have medium armor. Maybe a little too powerful? I thought so. Although it was fun to play (and dispatch players 2-5 level higher than mine), I wasn't drawn toward grouping b/c I knew I could take care of myself. Considerations for class balancing, I guess . . .

Sigh, now I am torn between playing either a Ranger or a Sentinel class, must decide on which class before release

Definately my first roll. Overall I like the versatility of a Ranger in MMORPG's. Very fun class to play.

I am really now leaning on the ranger, I have played a healer in every game i Played, its time for a change of pace, I played a ranger as an alt in eq1 and 2, and they are a fun class to play.

I'm actually really indecisive. In EQ my main was a ranger and I absolutely loved it once I got past all the "RANGER DOWN!!" jokes :P lol... I have a hunter in WoW, but I find that I've really taken a liking to casters. At the same time, I've always wanted to be a healer. I had a cleric alt in Eq and I did well with it. Not Awesome, but good. In WoW I've totally sucked as a healer.

I always play a ranger type class. This game will be no exception.
