    Default Reavers and 'Insanity'

Although the original Reavers have long since passed from the world of Telara, their combat skill and training lives on. Only the bravest and strongest of souls are allowed to attempt the Reaver training, as the Plane of Death's power is not easily mastered, nor resisted for long. Insanity is a constant risk, and it is also not uncommon to see a cruel smile or bloodlust in the eyes of a Reaver vanquishing an enemy. On the battlefield, Reavers are the most brutal of warriors, unleashing such fury as to terrify their allies almost as much as their enemies.

After reading the history of the Reaver I am wondering if the class will have an 'Insanity' mechanic that would actually produce a berserk/bloodlust effect where the player would see allies as enemies for a short period of time? If merely dabbling in the dark magic of the Plane of Death is dangerous, can this be translated into a viable weakness or counter-balance to the class' strength? If so, ti would make for very interesting gameplay situations.

Sounds about right...I would hope that each class has a definity mechanic that works with them during combat...please not like VG where some classes were neglected it (*coughs* Warrior *coughs*)

Eh, I don't think each class needs a defining mechanic that makes then different - the class abilities do that. Sure, it was cool in VG where my stealth went up during combat and I got higher bonuses, but considering it was basically instantly capped it didn't matter. Class defining things should be their abilities and strengths and weaknesses, not a random mechanic just for the sake of it being there.
Kakarat - Rogues do it better. No, I didn't forget the last bit, we just do it better.

I would love to see a true insanity meter on a class like this where the UI changes on the players end if they actually go insane for a bit due to using too much death magic..however...from past experience with games that tried anything like this such a mechanic would get nerfed by people whining because they cant have all the ++'s without any --'s. Then they would end up nerfing all the cool insanity stuff to balance the class back out and it would simply become another bland and boring class.

Well here is to hoping they do something interesting and dont let the whiners win and nerf the spice out of the game.

I do think each class needs a mechanic that makes it unique or feel like unique but then again since we don't know how we can combine all the classes and such they might not need to be outfitted with unique mechanics to create unique and different feels for gameplay.

Back on topic tho about the reavers, to me it very much sounds like an evil beserker class, I would love it if a class would actually be able to go insane and start lashing out at friendlies as a debuff, this could add a lot of dynamics and skill into a players approach to playing the class itself.

Uber power stuff like 'going insane' or simliar is very difficult to balance correctly. Yes it would be cool to have, but if its to good - the class is overpowered from the very beginning and we all know that then sudden ly we have a million Reavers roaming the servers.

Who will all moan and cry when they are beeing balanced, then troll the forums and threaten to cancel their gazillion subscriptions! Will we ever see a MMO without this behavior? I am afraid not :P I certainly wouldn't want to play a game without nerfs tbh :P at times it's a necessary evil.
