The idea of Rift is that players can build any kind of class that they want.

I know that for Mages both the Elemental Summoner and Necromancer are based around their pets, and fully talented they can be quite viable. Rogues have ranger and warriors have beastmaster. I also beleive that Cleric Druids have some form of pet?

If your after a BM Hunter id roll ranger/marksman, and if your after a demo lock id roll Necromancer/Warlock. (The 51 pt ability in Necromancer is lich form, similar concept to demon form for a WoW warlock)

Necromancer is definitely the most pet dependent class, with elementalist, ranger and beastmaster right behind them. Druids rely alot on theirs too but can fare better than the others if something happens to their pet.

I havnt played a Druid to lvl 31 so I may be speaking lies, but I would take a guess that the Satyr is quite a powerful ability as it is the 31 point defining ability of the Druid. I would even go so far as to say that the entire endgame playstyle of a main spec druid would revolve around this pet and the buffs that it uses.

But this is coming from someone who has not field tested a Druid

The satyr is very good, he does dmg on par with the other pet classes and has a group atk buff, the only issue is he has lower hp than alot of pets but thats because as a cleric you have access to endurance buffs for only a few points, and tons of major heals for only a few points, they couldn't make him a tanking juggernaut or you could solo anything :P
