    Hey guys, I've never played in any of the Betas and don't plan on playing in the Open One (Although I've had VIP Beta Key for awhile now) because I don't want to "ruin" the game for myself. First impressions as far as games go are big for me so I'd rather have the real thing then the Beta, but that's just me haha.

    Anyways. I wonder what calling could cater to my taste. This should include souls by the way.

    I prefer Range attacks but don't mind some melee here and there. I would like a few healing spells so I don't have to overload on potions, pets are a plus but aren't really needed. I would also like a Calling that I could switch out between dps/tank or dps/healer.

    Any suggestions?

    Cleric would be the perfect calling for you.

    As for the soul:
    Druid for pet + melee dps
    Justicar for tanking
    Sentinel/warden/purifier for healing
    Cabalist/Inquisitor for ranged dps
    Shaman for melee dps

    As far as I know warrior don't have healing spell but have 4 tanking soul (paladin, warlord, void knight, reaver).
    Rogue have some off-heal in bard and 1 tanking soul (riftstalker)
    Mage have 1 healing soul (chloromancer) but can't tank.

    Every calling can swap between DPS and Tank OR DPS and Healer.
    All callings also have a pet class (2 for Mages).

    It's hard to say what would be best for you.
    You might consider what "mechanic" you like the best. I don't know what mechanic clerics use, other than mana.

    Rogues use "energy" and combo points that build up on their current target up to 5, with finishing moves that consume them
    Rogue has something like:
    1 Tank
    3 melee dps
    3 range dps (1 pet)
    1 buff / slight heals

    Warriors use "energy" (maybe power) which refills and essentially they build up to 3 combo points on themselves.
    Warrior is like:
    2 Tank
    2 "tough" dps
    3 melee dps (1 pet)
    1 range / melee dps

    Mages use mana, which is typical, and they have a charge bar that fills up when using spells, the charge bar can be spent for temporary buffs.
    Mage is
    1 heal / dps
    3 pure dps
    2 utility (buff / debuff)
    2 "pet" archetypes

    Clerics also use mana but I don't know what their other mechanic is, if they have one.
    Cleric is
    3 pure healing
    1 melee healing / tank (lackluster atm)
    2 melee dps (1 pet)
    2 ranged dps (spells)

    From what I"ve seen, there is no calling-wide secondary resource for clerics, but some specific souls have additional mechanics (Justicars, for instance, build convictions on themselves, which they then unleash for a variety of effects).

    My friends are testing in beta on Guardian side, because we've decided to roll Defiant when Rift goes live. They want to "save" defiant stuff and not "ruin" it for themselves in Beta.
