Default Classes we know the least about!

Classes we know almost nothing about, those not mentioned here are because there is at least some info available.

    Warrior

    Paragon
    Warlord

    Cleric

    Cabalist
    Druid (has a fairy pet)

    Rogue

Marksman (who knows, more focussed version of a ranger due to no pet?)

    Mage

    Archon
    Necromancer

Both mage souls we can only be subjective about really.

Thought I'd start a discussion on these current anomalies, any input would be welcome

I believe the Saboteur has disappeared from the radar, unless they decided to trash the concept and I just hadn't heard about it. This class was mentioned in a Ten Ton Hammer "preview" somewhere, basically it was a rogue soul that used "bombs" (it was never stated if they were actual bombs or "magic" bombs) to cause damage or debuff opponents.

This soul is still in there one of the more recentvidieos posted to youtube had an earth rift in it and if you read the text screen in the lower left of the vidieo you will see some referance too it.

Starting at 1:40 in this video here a few of the Saboteur and Marksman talents are moused overl. Can pause it when the talents are up but I can't quite make out the text well enough to read. Maybe someone else will have better luck?

Marksman could be the defiant's ranger, with gunpowder instead of bows. ??

The ranger is a pet based character, while the marksman appears to not have pets but does have a number of speed buffs to keep him/herself away from melee range.

    The Saboteur:

Reminds me of the Malazon series, by Steve Erikson, and his characters, The Bridgeburners.

Wonder if they will be front-of-the-front line, in earlier than the front, and hope to survive?

I read somewhere - not sure where exactly - that the bloodmage was added to the cleric calling... can anyone verify this?

As far as necromancer... I'd assume it's about the same as EQ, you steal life and bring up undead pets... maybe not exactly... but controlling "life & death" constitutes those (somewhat) I'm sure there will be more... I hope to see more information and get to look through all of the talents. Oh patience, you evil, evil virtue. ;)

So basically every calling is going to have at least one soul that is affiliated to pets?

    Beastmaster: Warrior

    Ranger: Rogue

    Druid: cleric

    Elementalist: Mage?

I personally think that is an excellent idea.

I like to play pet classes every now and then due to the diversity in tactics when making use of the pet. Hopefully many pets won't just be simple damage adds but have useful skills to aid their masters and comrades.

It looks like every Calling has a healer, tank, buffer, and pet class. It should work out nicely, since if you really need to pick up an additional tank and there aren't any warriors available, you could give it a shot with one a cleric, rogue, or mage filling those shoes.

Heh, I was wondering if I was the only person who thought about Steve Erikson's Bridgeburners when it came to Rift's Saboteur. Was my very first thought actually when I heard about this being an explosives using class.
