    Default Pets and their levels

Right, so I've been trying to get a straight answer out of people in-game for a while now, and not had much luck.

How exactly do pet-levels work in Rift?

How many points must you spend in a tree for your pet of that tree to be able climb to 60 alongside you?

Does it matter which pet or which tree the pet is from?

I could really use slm information on this topic.

    Thank you!

for mages it's 20 points for the greater elemental pets that will scale to 60 ( the elementalist soul)

for the mage necromancer soul it is 20 points for the greater skeletal knight and greater zealot and 24 points to get the shadow revenant

the talents you are looking for are greater elemental affinity for elementalist and ancient tomb for necromancer

I don't recall what rogue and warrior require off the top of my head

you will have one tanking pet and one dps pet, use whichever is best for your play style. it matters which pet - the pet needs to be from the soul tree you have talented for the greater pets

So, I'm getting the impression that the pets that scale to level 60 are mostly the "Greater" pets?

Yep. Its a gating system to stop people making OP hybrids.

If you want a powerful pet who can make an impact on your stats you need to make a decent investment into a pet tree, you can't just stick a couple of points in as the pet will be useless.

However they are useful for low level solo builds.

    Rumbelina (W) - Rummstein (R) - Rumic (M) - Seraphim of Laethys
    My warriors be mostly using......

Yes. The only exceptions to this rule are pets that do not have a greater version, like Ranger's Blood Raptor-- but these are pets that you generally get deep in the tree, anyways, so they're basically Greater by default.
