I found solo/levelling was easiest with a necro lock, as soon as i hit moonshade i spec'd necro and was able to solo rifts and invasions easily. But it quickly became obsolete, and thanks to our terrible mitigation and TWO debateably useless pet classes, it basically becomes necessary to spec into warlock and chloro to survive, so we spend less time dealing damage and more time healing ourselves. With gear it gets easier but its still a little uninspiring. Seeing a rogue warrior or cleric solo anything in EI and then trying to do the same and failing miserably isnt cool.

What i dont understand is why they gave mages 2 pet classes? Only one of them even has synergy with another soul, and they both become obsolete and ineffective quickly. Even the damage dealing pets dont go higher than about 200 dps. Theyre just not good.

    Clerics > warriors > rogues/mages

Rogues might be a little better than mages still. The most recent changes brought them up to rogues from what reports I've had.

I had thought that warriors were sub-par soloers until last night, I was wandering around Moonshode on my Bard and happened to see this warrior just run into this entire camp of boglings and proceed to wipe out the entire camp in less than a minute, it was amazing, I wish you could see specs with a mouseover, so I don't know what build he was using, but it was most impressive. He was only 1 level higher than me so it wasn't like he was level 50 or anything like that ( he was 40). I am gonna give warrior another try, I really want to be able to do that someday <g>

Shamicar (44/22) is much better for soloing than Duracell. It is my grind spec and works really well. You can never pull to many mobs and the DPS is still good, particularly for constant movement while pulling. I sometimes use either my Inquisicar or Inquisitor but for pure grinding the shaman is best for me. (I have very good gear so your results may differ).

A Cleric is possibly the easiest to solo content with (and by solo I assume you mean rifts etc since any class is more than capable of leveling via quests on their own) and that is what I started out on. Running a Shamicar I found the ride long, but you never die and never Oom. However after levelling a rogue in no time at all I would probably recommend that as a more fun way to level and played right you can still solo some rifts (but justnot as easy as a Cleric thats all).

The plus points of Rogue levelling are having the options to use a pet tank as ranged, have insane burst as melee and still be able to tank and self healing is fairly nice for levelling with. You just kill most things quickly enough to not worry about your own health, but running into harder mobs is a little trickier.

Clerics though can solo groups almost as quick as taking down a single mob which means it's AoE grind city...but can get boring if you simply macro everything to one button like some recommend. The other thing with Clerics to keep in mind is how versatile they are in group roles once you get a few souls behind you. While there is still ever changign debates at end game viability of the roles, the Cleric while levelling will fill in tank, healer, ranged dps and melee dps as well as offer a support in the way of group heals and do all these roles very well (I ran dungeons all the time while levelling asnd switched between tanking and healing which helps keep things fresh for you).

I play Rogue, so my perspective is from that.

For general killing, I usually go with Ranger. I add in Bard as a sub-soul for healing and extra damage mitigation, and I can usually solo most things. With the Ranger, I can generally kill non stop as long as I can keep this pig up.

For questing, I go with Assassin. The ability to avoid fights is just too invaluable, and the Assassin's true power is to simply pick and choose battles. I can walk past things and get things that other classes would have to fight through.

For killing things that would eat me alive, Bard is my champion. Using the Mez-kill method, I can solo things which would normally require a group. Very handy in the epic quests.

But the best advice is to see what works for you and try it out.

Warlock/Necro/Chloro is good for levelling. Start off with Radiant spores, send in your pet, apply a few dots and then Soul Purge. On to the next. Mine never really drinks or uses healing pots.

What about farming? My cleric can pull 15-20 mobs at level 50 with Vex, then stay full health, full mana, and kill them all in hardly anytime. Also my cleric has gimp gear nothing from raids and a few pieces of PvP gear but im not even P10 so its just crap. Mostly just stuff I got off the AH. Seen videos or rogues and warriors doing the same with similar gear. The only mage farming videos I see they are all in full HK gear. So why are mages forced to be in full HK gear just to farm when every other other class can do it with GSB quality gear or even Exoert Dungeon/Plaque gear?

Actually I didn't. It's the only class that I don't play in the game.

I wouldn't argue that rogues are the best solo class, because they are not... but this is the best I could do. I never leave home with out it. 26/26/14 It has everything a growing boy needs. It's also pretty flexible, but this is what I use.

It has two drawbacks; no ranged attack and needs assassin crystal for decent single target damage.
Kiiro - who cares about my progression.

Zhe other day i was doing a level 45 dungeon, a rouge was tanking, we finished in max.10minutes, she pulled so many mobs that i thought we're dead, but she pulled it off, we didnt even had to heal her that much, the whole time i was just: WOW O-O.

So, after my cleric, i'm leveling rouge
