Well with my Justicar / Shaman idea I was hoping that the combat bonuses would stack from Shaman and Justicar. They both add +crit chance and bonus to base damage, unless I misunderstood / misread something. I'm more hands on. Reading the skill list to me doesn't help as much as actually taking the build out for a test "drive". ^^

I'll need to re-read the Warden's skills. I got the impression that the Warden was more of a ranged DDer with some HoTs. Kinda like the Purifier but w/o the big Heals. How off base am I with that impression?

When I read the abilities it seemed to be based on a lot of HoTs and Group Hots with small single heals. There is also the healing orbs that you can put on players that heal as they get used up. It seems very proactive in their healing. They seem to have some good damage spells as well.

Like you said until you get to take them for a test spin it is hard to know for sure - I did see on the Pax thread in General that they had a Warden healer, they changed another class for a direct healer type and found the going a lot easier. But again it is hard to tell, people playing new classes, new game, first instance - need to wait until the fog clears ;-)

    Cool So many choices!

With two classes unrevealed, this may be a little premature, but here goes.

It looks like our ability to reforge our souls should keep the oops factors to a minimum. I enjoy the healer/buffer role in a group, and the battle-cleric role when I'm solo.

Towards that end, I think I'll try Sentinel-Shaman for groups, if the two are faction compatible. Powerhouse healing and powerhouse buffing in one character would make for a harder-to-kill group. If shaman aren't compatible with the Guardian side, then I'll have to choose the best buffer from those that can connect to Sentinels.

For solo play, the 3rd class needs to be the strongest attacker of the cleric sub-group, coupled with the best buffer sub-group. Since the list is incomplete, it's tough to make that call just yet.

So much to learn and explore...!

Very excited to see the different types of playstyles that people will used depending on their combination. This should play right into the hands of the more "experienced" MMO fanatics out there.

Thanks - I'm hoping to update this thread as more information becomes available so we have some kind of a repository for all cleric information. It was hard for me to keep all the clerics straight just by looking at the soul trees, so I thought one page with a short summary of each would be easier.

I think I'm going to go Sentinel all the way to the top - unless the druid or unreleased soul really catches my fancy. The justicar also caught my eye, it might be something I play around with as an alternate build.

You opened my eyes to some really good thought process when not having to use a balanced approach for PvPing. This is a very good think. I usually am a Main Healer in every game I play, Sentinal looks to my role.

One good think to add if it can be foudn would be armor types. Of course with the hybrid approaches it will be damn near impossible

I hope I can make a Sentinel that can use robes and a stave. I persoanlly hate being forced down a Shield and Mace/Hammer approach.

I am in love with some of these classes. I also like that my biggest problem so far is deciding which one of these that I want to play. There are a couple in there that really appeal to me. I usually play either a caster/dps or a healer, with my love in the healing. Now I know there will be some healing class for me to really enjoy playing.

Though you are relying on a few things that are semi questionable

    1) the builds they are play are apparently very old so a LOT could have changed been added tweaked etc

    2) We dont know if a calling is going to get basic skills based off of character level

IE if my calling is cleric I may get a basic rez at level X same a some other basic moves

These may switch per calling giving callings some extra stuff that we just dont know about yet.

They sound all like great fun though and a much refreshed break of what we have been having!

I'm pretty intrigued to find out what the last cleric soul is. Monk would be very nice and pretty unexpected even though its been talked about, or perhaps some sort of death life-tap vampirism cleric.

    Good thread thumbs up.

What I am still somewhat missing and hoping for is a protection oriented soul, that works more proactively ( I am thinking something similiar to the GW prot monk) instead of the old whack a mole health bar minigame.
From the looks of it the Purifier will only have a few shield spells and the rest seems to be 0815 healer equipment.

Being the main supporter is something I love but I'd also like to get some new variety into this role and have it more engaging. It would be nice to be encouraged to keep an eye on the situation and use skills accordingly, not the boring heal spam - bar tunnel vision.

In any case, I am glad that Rift is treating the healer class as something more exciting than just "that robe dude who heals stuff" , actually clerics with heavier armor, shields (the ones you equip) and interesting class designs again.

I'm quite sure they said a long time ago that the system isn't designed like that. You get abilites based on how many pts you put in the brances of a soul. The abilites become "root" that open up as pts are spent.

So, if you don't spec into rez or heal within one of your souls, you will likely not have it. As the way it should be. The entire system is designed around the souls and creative usage by using them together or independently. It's not really based on the calling. If there was a level attributed ability distribution system, it would likely have to be tied to the calling and not the souls. I could be wrong, but I'm quite sure this is the way Trion intended the game to focus when they devised the calling/soul system.
