    Default Riftstalker build

When I saw the Riftstalker and how unique the play style of this soul is, (teleporting rogue tank :P) I realized I would deffs roll this class for launch. Keep in mind that I haven't played beta. This is all theory crafting

    http://dl.dropbox.com/u/14031925/rif...oul3_talants=0

You have 6 teleports with 30 secs cd

and with each teleport you get:
reduces damage by 15% 10 secs
    immune to roots/stuns/snares 2 secs
30% increased movement speed 4 secs
15% crit chance for 10 secs
armour value 45% for 10 secs

Now it seems like a riftstalker will have insane survivability from the added 15% of endurance, the 20% armour value and the 5 second immunity buff. You will also get +30% crit rate with the teleport buff and the sin/ranger talents. Lack of CC is also a con, but I think having 6 stun/root/snare removing teleports makes up for it.

    what do you guys think?

At lvl 27 I was able to pull off a 3k HP riftstalker, which had higher HP than my buddy who was running tank warrior. And let me tell you, they are fun as hell. They have the ability to both DPS rather well as well as be tanky at the same time. I tanked a dungeon as RS, tanked PvP as RS, and DPSed both PvP and a dungeon. The teleports make you do so much more dmg, and using one every few seconds lets you constantly build the random buffs you can get. It's insane on how much damage reduction they can do, while still putting out decent dmg.

Honestly I'd go this direction :

    http://dl.dropbox.com/u/14031925/rif...alants=2117,5_

You get a lot more dodge/parry this way, you also get +10% max health from bard tree as well as more energy generation (when paired with strike back), more hit% (for more aggro generation), and +15% dexterity which in turn gives you dodge parry and more damage (which = more threat as well)

The only thing this really gets rid of is unnecessary things for tanking like extra damage, extra movement speed from planeshift (only necessary for PvP imo), and a CC ability that you'll probably never really use....

Again though this is PvE and certainly wouldn't be extremely great for PvP, at least in theory.

    Default Agreed

I agree with Korncob, Bladedancer does seem to offer the best synergy with a Riftstalker by adding a lot of mitigation, and the 5 points spent in the Bard soul for 10% HP are priceless.

I was honestly thinking about using that build both for PVP and PVE. I'm not exactly sure how crit% works on gears but working from a base of 30%...

I mean, rouges have that trouble of being squishy in PVP so why not eliminate that completely while still retaining a high crit% and dmg

Well it depends how they redo rogues and again we've all only gotten to level 27 and at level 21 I needed every possibly talent for mitigation I could muster to be able to main tank just for RoF, much less DD or anything like that.

So we'll have to see at endgame, where the difference between both builds would really stick out, but the fact still would be that my build I listed would be a lot better for tanking in PvE, a lot better for not dying in PvP (for the most part) however if it ends up that you can tank with maybe half of your talents in mitigation type talents at endgame in PvE then by all means of course your build will be a lot better and I'm sure a lot of people will take after that sort of layout....but I'm seriously doubting it will be that way considering it would mean if you have a full on mitigation spec'd tank raids and such would be far too easy.

I wasn't thinking of main tanking with my build, If anything I would of built a ranged marksman until cap then respec'ed into my build for PVP

An idea I've been toying with myself

    http://www.riftrolebuilder.com/build...ancer.21000500

The idea is that I have Ebon Fury and Dusk Strike from Nightblade to let me build up all my Riftstalker's defenses (plus False Blade) in the blink of an eye. Twilight Shelter and Fire and Death Attunement (permanant 15% fire and death damage reduction) are a nice bonus too.

At level 27, this is the spec i'm using :
    http://www.riftrolebuilder.com/build...0:blade_dancer.
It's insane the amount of punishement you can take before dying
The cadence with heals is fun, and can help you to build up those 5 combos for the defensive finishers.
AoE aggro is the only problem you'll have with such a build.
You'll achieve around 3,5k hp with such a build.

I dont know what i'll do at 50, maybe something like this :

you shouldn't have trouble with AOE in that build considering you have shadow blitz and rift disturbance...shadow blitz is a large cooldown though but rift disturbance is a spammable pretty much lol but yah I get what you mean if they parry or dodge it your kind of screwed.

I believe that with the last talent in the riftstalker tree (the one that enables you to switch your combo points) multiple mobs shouldnt be a problem.
But right now, multiple mobs tanking is the only are where warrior tanks are better than the riftstalker.

Pretty sweet builds! Totally going rogue at release

btw wanted to ask you guys, what does exhausted means? I see bladedancer has some pretty sweet skills that make you exhaust after using them. Do skill that have exhaust effect share cooldown?

yes the Bladedancer rhythmic skills share a cool down

if you activate sidestep for example you cannot activate Blade Tempo until your exhaustion wears off (30's default, 20s with Counter balance)

This is the build I used last patch

    http://www.riftrolebuilder.com/build...0:bard.1005000

Let me tank Deepstrike Mines without a hitch. First time really tanking too...so apparently there's no really learning curve with this build.
