    Default Most common attack element

What have people found the most common attack element used in pvp? Personally I think I get allot of water damage done to me, I think from rogues or warriors. So for pvp I may build up my water resistance. I know light and death will come from Clerics but I'm not sure about the other classes. What do people find?

    Stacking Death:
    - Cabalist
    - Inquisitor
    - Warlock
    - Necro
    - Fell Blades (Nightblade)
    - Various greater essences

    I'm sure there's more.

Can't think of a warrior attack that does water damage.

Warriors will either be physical, air, fire with the exception of two earth based attacks (riftblade - stonespear, earth burst), a couple life based attacks (paladin - sweeping strikes, light's decree) and death (reaver - necrotic wounds, blood fever, soul sickness and more rarely infestation, creeping death, master of the abyss)

I think rogues mainly are physical, death or fire outside of a couple of their dd poison procs.

    death should be most common.
reaver, warlock, necromancer, and cabalist are 100% death
nightblade and inquisitor are about half death

life is pretty common as well
chloro and bard are all life
paladin, druid, justicar, inquisitor, purifier, and sentinel spells are largely life as well

    fire would be
pyro is all fire of course
riftblade, archon, and nightblade are largely fire as well

    Air
dominator, stormcaller, and voidknight are mostly Air, maybe worth going air just for dominator resists >_>
riftblade and shaman have a decent amount of air output as well

    water
water is pretty much just warden, assassin poisons, and the utility side of stormcaller

    earth
earth is just archon and an off spell here and there

death and fire are the most deadly, resisting life also messes up opponents healing, and air is a lot of CC
most everyone uses a pve weapon with their pvp set though so you won't see resists even if your geared for it unfortunately.
I'm sure I missed stuff but should be enough to make an informed decision
elementalist is all 4 basic elements so i didn't mention. can't really make a proper defense to that

I would put Archon in both the fire and earth category. Our main nuke is Pillaging Stone, when everything else is on Cooldown, while we still have earthen barrage and rock slide.

However, because of burning purpose, it is mainly fire.

For pvp, if I was going to stack a resistance, which I wouldn't.. but if I did then I'd stack fire.

most of the death based stuff is in sucky pvp classes or doesn't hit very hard in the first place.

the fire stuff is all the heavy hitting elemental damage that comes at you for the most part.

air would be the next choice right after that.

If I were to stack anything I'd stack death. Many death abilities do both damage and a little self heal. Still, resistance is useless in pvp.
If your attacker has hit/focus it will reduce your resistance greatly.
1 hit reduces all resistances by 2. Same with focus.

So if a paragon is wailing on you with air damage using way of the wind, and has all pvp gear except an abyssal musket (31 hit) his elemental attacks will ignore 62 points of resistance. Most poeple have much more hit that this, even in pvp so basically what I'm trying to say is, don't bother.

Not when I tested it. Must've missed the patch notes when they changed it then. I tried all the riftblade elemental attacks and they all were affected by hit in a 1 hit = 2 resistance relation.

well no ****, that's because they are melee attacks not spells. Just like a Nightblade.

would i as a melee Nightblade rogue with nothing but Fire and Death spells stack Focus?

    no.

I would stack hit, because i'm a ****in melee class.

Shaman is 90% physical, they go for maybe 200-300 dps worth of water in 51 shaman, which is terrible in pvp as it's too squishy and too susceptible to cc. Also all it's burst is from physical and air dmg.

The damage mitigation from resists still stays around. Just tested that, the mitigation is not affected by enemy focus.
Shaman is like 60% air (lightning hammer, vengeance, jolt) and life (bombard, sanction heretic, light's decree and justicar spells they are likely to have). The rest is physical.
