    Default War-Wizard

Now I'm not going to lie...this isn't an original thought. I ganked this straight from the pages of the Sword of Truth series...but given the fact that Goodkind bit all of his material from Wheel of Time, eh, all's fair. But I think it would be awesome to have a full out war-wizard class. A wizard that didn't have a sword on his/her hip for show, but could really get in there, slice and dice some butt up and call down horrendous fire and death when need be -- OP.

I just imagining a war wizard is casting instead of fire, ice ect. spells ...floating swords and knives or even bigger weapons or shields out of fire and ice and is fighting with this levitating weapons.

Personally I really think that there "Should" be one mage soul that is purely specialised as a magical warrior. Eg enhance weapons and do average to good damage in melee. Well atleast that is my personal belief...

War wizard sounds really interesting. I also like the sword of truth series. I personally hope to see a warrior mage type class, or as i like to call him is the Spell Breaker. A calss in heavy armor who uses a tower shield and closes the range on mages and debuffs there magic with magic.

That sounds really cool, that would be like Erza from the manga, Fairy Tail.

NO!!! That is so stupid! A war Wizard is like making proffessor X have mind control (already has) and also able to tank if x-men had an mmo.

Sorry it sounds cool but I am an old school Wizard fan.

I like this idea. But I think the War Wizard should have some abilities to help protect him or her while in the mix. Either in the form of knock backs and stuns, or self shielding.

I would love nothing more than a melee-wizard!! Something along the lines of the Herald of Xotli from Age of Conan.

Lol (literally), I'm sorry for messing up your classic class, I just think it would be pretty awesome and surprising to enemies when they got their head lopped off by a cloth/leather wearing "mage" with a sword.

Well, we already know about the nightblade, and there might be other hybrid souls such as this for mages or warriors which allow melee\caster gameplay. Also clerics are a sort of holy mages with chain mail and clubs.
It is an ironic habit of human beings to run faster when we have lost our way.

Love this idea and i like this tread, some really crazy and the same time interesting ideas. Very curios what we'll see actually about the mage souls.

Gandalf carried a pretty big sword and could use it..

I am kinda torn about it. I have played scouts for so long I am really looking forward to standing back and nuking the snot outta the mobs.
On a realistic side though it would stand to reason that a wizards powers would have limits and he/she might find it more practical to get in there and do some slicing and dicing. But that brings up the question of armour. Would this war wizard still be wearing cloth? Cause that is not going to stand up to doing melee damage.

    Interesting thought tho.

You could always do a % damage off for chain and even more for plate per equipped item. Allow the player the ability to choose whether or not its worth it to them to be more armored or more damage.

Yeah, the armorquestion is interesting - itemization aswell!
Here's my thoughts on it ;o
Since it's a war-wizard (or some kind of melee-mage) it would be nice if they used cloth. Instead of the classic long robes they would waer more of tightfitting pants and a tunic - it's easier to run in.
And, well, since they're wizards they could have some kind of fancy magic shield (buff) which absorbs some of the damage to increase their survivability.
For the itemizationproblem - often this kind of class either have to pick som of the casters cloth and some of the melees - they get some talent that transfor some of the intellect (or similar stat) into strength/meleepower.

Oshos idea with levitating weapons is really nice - kind of... ninjaish?
