Default How would YOU "fix" sabos?

There seems to be a lot of sab hate out there, so instead of adding this onto a 40 page thread of "NERF SABS" I thought it might be useful to ask the community what they think a reasonable fix could be. Personally I do play a sab occaisionally, and if someone came up and asked "SABS need a nerf, how would make them retain their fun factor while expelling the hate?" one of two ways for me:

Simply add a cast time long enough to be interruptible to detonate, allowing another avenue in addition to cleanse or CC to prevent the massive backloaded damage we all know and love. Keep the big numbers at the risk of more vulnerability.

Or, my personal fav, make charges melée range, greatly Increasing the danger level to apply them. Maybe add a talent that makes them able to not break stealth in addition to adding a cast time to detonate. Would have to be deep in the tree but would alert anyone to a destealthing casting rogue causing them to say "OMG" *stun interrupt faceroll* if they were quick enough.

There it is. More suggestions welcome!

Each charge has a chance to crit, stabilizes spike damage but doesnt reduce total damage over a period of time.

Stop backloading all of our damage. That's the part that's broken, and it's easy to fix.

you can't stop sabs from backloading damage, otherwise whats the point? he'd just be a regular rogue using daggers... when someone sets up a bomb its not exploding slowly over time....

I agree, the way to fix them is make charges melee range (which is fairly realistic imo) since they have to be "set up" and then make detonate a 1.5 or 2 second cast (on par with most mage spells) with a minimum range like marksmen

so the trick would be: get in > place charges > back to a safe location > BOOM

most classes STILL could not counter this but it would at least give us a chance

when i first heard about saboteurs, i imagined them sort of like a combination of those certain fel orc mobs in the second hellfire instance in wow and the spy from team fortress 2

a melee oriented class with various debuffing bombs and traps, stealth, a medium dmg backstab with a cooldown, and the ability to disguise as one of the other side's team

I find killing them to an excellent way of 'fixing' sabos.

Meh, sabs seem ok at 50. There's bigger fish about.

Maybe tone down thier damage a bit in lower brackets.

I agree. The high damage, stun-locking, charging, high hit point, plate wearing, self-healing, range shooting warriors should be looked at before sabs.

Sabs do A LOT of spike damage, however, there is at least a small delay in between the charge setup and the blast. There is NO DELAY in charge-stun-dead. There is also no running away, no CCing them for more than 4 seconds, and no killing them before they are on top of you.

I'm wondering if we can't get more people on board with charges being melée. I mean it makes sense doesn't it? The sneaky stealthed Bomber sneakily sneaks passed enemy lines, possibly wearing a sneaky disguise? He sets a couple traps along the way sneakily, to prevent persuers during his escape, he comes up on a supposed comrade conversing casually wholly sneakily dropping charges down his friends clothes, sneakily he goes around the corner and pulls out his 100lb plunger, he dons a yosemete Sam mustache and a 40gal hat and prepares to blast the unsuspecting rube to kingdom come, all of a sudden, a message pops into his head, something about line of sight. He then peeks around the corner and pushes the plunger down, BOOM!

Oh! Maybe add a countdown rebuff once detonate is cast, giving the target a chance to cleanse beforethe big boom, just a thought there

compared to other classes the damage over time isn't the good. So nerfing damage is not the answer.

Roll a sabo, try killing a cleric or go one to one against a champ, now come back and tell me sabos are OP.

I don't play my sabo in pvp anymore because the single target damage (for the time it takes) is not good at all. I get much better results with my riftassin.

However the area damage is good very pve. That's what the class is really for, area damage.

Make them hit slightly harder. Sabs are quite underpowered right now in PvP. They are glass cannons, without the cannon.

Because 1 class should COMPLETELY be able to negate anothers damage output right?

    Sabs need buffed if anything.
