    Default Language - Why English?

So I was wondering, why in Telara which is clearly NOT Earth everyone speaks perfect English or whatever Earthly language you have your game in.

IMHO all the text should be in Telarian.

Because, if it was in their language, people here won't be able to read what they are saying. That or Earth is in economical devastation who invented Rifts, and have decided to invade Telara and rub the knowledge of the ability to speak the English language universally.

I don't want to learn a new language to play a video game. Unless you'd like to go read your latest Star Trek novel in Klingon or read the Silmarillion in Elvish, you have far more time available on your hands than me. It's hard enough trying to figure out what they're saying about in the latest hip-hop album, we have to spend weeks on our horde characters learning human just to read Mr. Smite saying "Now you're making me angry!" Thanks but no thanks.

One of the worst films ever made by western civilization was scripted entirely in Esperanto. That's not a coincidence.

Don't know what Esperanto is? That's not a coincidence either.

It's a common device used in many sci-fi/fantasy novels. The language is Telaran (most likely called something else that I don't recall reading atm) but for the reader it's presented as English for simplicity's sake.

5/10. If you had posted in Telarian I would have given you 10/10.

    Fail.

Please. This is why they screen people so much in order to let them into their betas. People will just waste time with this drivel, asking stupid questions bout why a game is being sold in a language people actually speak.

It's getting really annoying ... a few really good friends of mine that help me lore gather have basically stopped watching the forums ... The last two weeks the boards in general have declined in a bad way.

But it IS all in Telarian. Guess you missed the part where all ascended had a micro chip installed that automatically translates Telarian into their own language. In fact, the chip is so small, no one even realizes it's implanted!

Yeah, I can understand why you overlooked that. Easily done!

Telaran.. By coincidence happens to share the exact same letters, pronunciation, words & word meanings as English..
