Default Rift gives a 'lovecraftian' feel?

Do any of you get the impression that rift's dragons are distinctly lovecraft inspired ie, cosmic, unknowable super entities that can drive mortals insane at a mere glance?

This applies specifically to Akylios and the plane of water as they are unabashedly a Lovecraftian monster and theme. In 3.0 we will get to go to the plane of water. I did ask Daglar if there was more of a Lovecraft influence since we will be going to an area ruled by "nightmares and madness" and he said yes but it depends on the zone. So expect more cool Lovecraftian areas and themes in the not to distant future.

"Akylios covets knowledge, all knowledge. He learned every hideous secret he could, and invented many of his own, refusing to forget anything he learned even when his vast mind became full to the outer limits of madness.

He was mad even before he learned all fears and secrets. There are no words for what Akylios is now."
