Default Faceless Man is still faceless 20 years into the future!!

    Faceless Man is in Terminus.

I had my theory on who he could secretly be, but not so sure.

But I am curious if we will ever get to see who he really is.

Lets Go Rift. Hope Archeage can do something next. Lets Save Rift

Perhaps you should do the defiants water saga questline, your questions will be answered.

oh and I am pretty sure he is literally faceless as the early quest text when he becomes a cultist talks about the ritual and the knife cutting away his flesh (or some such thing it's awhile since I did the saga)

So that glitch where your toon's flesh is removed (in a gory scream) in the avatar pictures... that's really seeing what you'd be like as an Abyssal Cultist? jk =]

The Faceless Man seems to be as nuanced and complex of a character as Brother Jebiah or pre-insanity Marshall Kain. I'd be interested in learning more, for sure.

He gives you the Shyla quest in Terminus. He asks the Ascended there to collect the essences, soul, power, of her as she has become a Harvester of Souls for Regulos in this future. He cleanses these when you return them to him and makes a new soul. He does not show what he uses to cleanse this soul, nor what he will do with this soul either. He tells you to keep your secrets close and says how Pragmatism will succeed where Synthetism has failed.

    and I mis-quoted the Faceless Man ~sighs

In this future of Terminus he says: Pragmatism will succeed where Fanaticism has failed. Not Synthetism :)

His name is West. Last name, I believe. His mother is Minara (that woman in the hut between the porticulum and the Defiant camp in Whitefall - also, **** that escort quest). He joined the Abyssal because he was emo, only to realize "holy crap these people are legit crazy" and backed the hell up. He betrayed the Abyssal by allowing the Defiants to capture Meridian (an Abyssal fortress) from them. Now he chills out in Orphiel's Spire, listening to Uriel talk to Kira about blowing up life creatures with death energy.

Also in the future he rips apart Shyla's soul like a dog with a well-worn chewtoy, and uses its energy to grant Ascended their second (well, third, after Beta 2 or 3) soul.

Are player interactions with him that shallow? I was thinking he'd have questlines dedicated to him, much like Kain. Don't get me wrong he's still cool, but I was hoping for more of a revelation. Heh. Even Shyla has more story going than he does, and she's the stereotypical elf-queen from time immortal.

What? No, that dude does a lot of crazy stuff over the leveling experience.

I'm pretty sure he rips the memories out of one of his (very much dead) agents heads. That's in Freemarch. I'm pretty sure the next time is in IPP, where he helps you subvert the Abyssal. And then Stillmoor, where he does... uh.. stuff.. with the Saga of the Endless.

It's really hard to remember what happened when you did it a year ago.

Plus, I could make any lore character look a certain way with my writing "style".

I don't know if you have a Defiant character but it is worth doing the Defiant's Water Saga. It's pretty much the Faceless Man's personal story and you do learn quite a bit about him, the ritual that bound him to Akylios and the Abyssal and get a little insight into his regrets about how it all cost him his old life.

Worth pointing out that the Faceless Man wasn't just a member of the Abyssal but one of their Tidelords; cabal leaders.

I was sure I did a quest for him in moonshare but I'm not sure. I know during the hammerknell event he was pretty badass though. He largely does pragmatism and cloak and dagger better than anyone else in the world and that's his thing. He's got to be one of the mightiest non ascended in telara.

    Him being badass.

The Faceless Man is certianly an facinating character. I really respect the depth Trion puts into some of its characters. Just like Jebiah, theres a lot more to the guy than what is on the surface.

Damn wish I could find a group to do the Water Saga quest on the Defiant side

Isn't there a mention of a photograph in Drowning in Snow (the Kira/Uriel story on the site) that mentions a giant of a man standing behind a man and his daughter, with a face that was forgotten almost as soon as it was seen? Features not registering in memory or some such? Been awhile since I read that story.
