    Lightbulb Lore Question: Kelari Society.

Greetings! Before I write up the Bios for my RP characters I had a few questions about Kelari society.

How are men and women regarded? Are they equal? Or not?

Mainley how are men treated within the Kelari social structure...

How do Kelari relationships work? Arranged marriages? Normal marriage? Something else?

How do they regard Kelari having relationships with other races?

Finally is there any definitive list yet on the gods that they make pacts with? Have any been named? Have any Kelari rituals been explained in any detail?

Oh and if anyone out there has any links to any detailed resources on the races and there societys within Rift I'd be super glad to have a look.

    Thank you.

-is, as far as I know, our best resource for information concerning each race's culture.

Most of your questions are "I don't know." As far as male/female in society, it seems to be equal, though their government usually has a High Priestess, not a High Priest. Marriage customs are unknown to me.

Kelari use so many spirits in their rituals that a complete list would be absurd. Many of them from the Isles are dead or vanished now, killed or consumed by Akylios and his ilk. Many Kelari youth have replaced 'spirits' with 'magitech' in their minds; instead of having a flame spirit light the candle or levitate their vehicle, they use technology.

Ahhh ok...I wondered if anything had been changed or added from the time that was posted.

It looks like I have a lot of wiggle room, and plenty of space, to add my own creativity to my Kelari fellas.

    Thanks. ^_^

Yes, the Kelari pacts with spirits are much more individualistic. They'd never really worship or make a pact with a god unless that god was also doing something for them. Kelari view their relationship with spirits as an exchange of equals - you scratch my back, I'll scratch yours. Thus they get something from the spirit while offering gifts, worship, or something similar in return.

As for their gender roles, I think all races in the game for the sake of gameplay have equality in gender. No real news on marriages or anything, but I'd imagine it's consensual rather than arranged. Given their perspective on being individualistic and equal with (or superior to) others I can't really imagine a Kelari going into an arranged marriage. But maybe I'm projecting there.

Hah, that was awesome. Makes me want to make a pure businessman-style Kelari on a RP server. Too bad I've already got more characters than I know what to do with. Including some on Faeblight I really need to get back to.

Priestesses are more common than priests IIRC, and since they live in a theocracy it does suggest it is somewhat female favoured but we would not really know.

If you speak with the leaders of both Kelari and Bahmi, you'll see that they don't very much like each other. Kelari, to Bahmi, are proud beyond reason for being so, being a 'soft' race.

If you do the same between Kelari and Ethians, you'll see that the Eth don't trust Kelari near their machinery. Long story short, Kelari have a "press this button and see what it does" methodology when it comes to new hardware.

Considering who actually invented the machine-born Ascended process, apparently that method works. Suck it, cautious Ethians!
