Default A Knights Tour (City Core Puzzle) **Spoiler**

So after spending a ton of time on this puzzle, I decided to write it all down to save everyone else from having to bang their heads against a wall for hours on end ;) Just follow the pattern three times until they all turn white and you are set. Enjoy!

For those needing a little more Spoiler information - There is large vine at 6984, 10036 in City Core, Go up the vine and jump over to the large roof, ride all the way to the other end of roof, and in the middle tower there is a Knight Chess piece. Click on the Knight and this will take you to the puzzle.

Now the puzzle. I assume when you arrive, all of the lights will be RED and there is always just one Knight piece on the puzzle board. At one end are the controls. Notice some controls can be clicked on and some not. This changes as you proceed depending on where the (1) Knight piece is on the board.

The whole concept is to touch each position on the board ONCE which changes the color from RED to GREEN on the first go around, GREEN to BLUE the second time, and BLUE to WHITE the third time. When all positions are WHITE, you have solved the puzzle and will get your key.

Position yourself behind the controls facing the Chess Board. Notice there are (8) controls in a clockwise position around the center piece. Number the (8) controls on a piece of paper from (1) to (8) in a clockwise fashion just like they are laid out on your screen. Now if you click on the correct piece in the order listed below, when you have completed the first round all the board positions will have changed from RED to GREEN, Repeat the process (2) more times to change all the board positions to the final WHITE color.

    Control 1: 12, 25, 27, 29
    Control 2: 6, 10, 15, 20, 36
    Control 3: 11,21, 33, 35
    Control 4: 2, 8, 19,, 26, 28
    Control 5: 1, 9, 14, 18
    Control 6: 3, 17, 23, 24, 32
    Control 7: 4, 7, 16, 31
    Control 8: 5, 13, 22, 30, 34

So, start with Control 5 and click it, it is #1. You will notice the Knight piece moved. Go to the Control 4 and click it, it is #2. Control 6 is #3, Control 7 is #4, and so on. When you complete the 36th move, and all board positions are GREEN you will be back where you started at the beginning position. Repeat the whole process again and all board positions will be BLUE. One more time and all board positions will be WHITE and you will have solved the puzzle.

Hopefully, all of this makes sense.

If I'm understanding right, you don't click on the knight itself, you click on the numbered control which corresponds to the "move number" - that is, the first control you will use is #5, which will effect the move from the 0 square to the 1 square.

Oh! One more VERY important thing: you MUST have completed The Knight's Tour artifact set before you will be able to do the puzzle!

Hmm. And even that seems to not be the whole thing: according to rifthead

To unlock this puzzle you need to first complete the artifact set A Knight's Tour. Then you go to Kingdom of Pelladane to the farm in cirkbo plains. pick up the quest, gather 10 sheep, pick up magical poop. You need 5 poops to turn into the puzzle vendor in Tempest Bay to buy the Knights tour book to be able to do the puzzle.

Same idea a little less confusing:

this is the layout when facing board and yourself at controls
    _8__1
    7____2
    6____3
    _5__4

for one full cycle click in this order: 54678-27452-31852-76542-38661-41418-76383-2
the dashes are just there to help keep track of where you are easier
repeat this sequence 3 times total
    to finish

Ah, the joys of being a chess geek - as soon as I'd seen the puzzle name/artifact set, I knew what the puzzle had to be. (There are actually several ways to complete an actual Knight's Tour.) Same thing for the Queen's Gambit puzzle.

But I did like Trion's nod to them. Gave me a momentary flashback to THE 7TH GUEST and the Bishop's puzzle.

Maybe a little bit prettier: A possible solution as PDF or PNG. (The attachment below is merely a low-res preview, use the links.)
