For those who Don't have phones w/apps

I have a Blackberry, because I'm not a child...

No access to the app.

Then again, I'd like the app only for the gchat, and from what I hear it takes too long to refresh or something and it's essentially useless...

So, I would like Trion to release a program for my PC so I can talk w/ my guild mates without logging into the game...

I use vent to do it at the moment, but come on... I want more Trion things! Y'all are awesome!

I don't know if they make one for iphones, or if another one is out already for android, but keep tabs on http://bluestacks.com/ and use that when it's released. It's an android emulator of sorts, so you will then be able to use apps on your PC.

It's hardly trivial.

I get between 20 and 25 extra inscribed source stones a week. With the new game, I've gotten a ton of stuff that was only available in previous patches.

This is what gets me. Fellow guildies always talk about how much Planarite or Inscribed they got that week from the phone app, while at work. It gets a bit annoying to hear all the time, lol!

While i have never complained about it, i do think it would be nice or fair to offer non data phone users a method of making extra rewards on the side too. Somehow tehy would have to keep current data phone RIFT app users from using it, otherwise they could double dip... not sure how they could do that, but it'd be nice.

not game breaking in my eyes, but my buddies are gearing faster than me without playing the game, lol

I have an android because it syncs with my corporate exchange server, handles our flash based websites and supports our android based apps, which holds the marketshare of our 3rd party enterprise users.

try that on your ****ty crackberry.

bluestacks is nice, easy to use, however the lootables wasn't available because of openGL es 2.0. , however, i went here http://youwave.com/download.html and it works.

Having this on the PC isnt a bad idea but I will give you an example of a similar situation.

I worked for a major restaurant chain. They had a guest loyalty program where people signed up on paper, it was mailed in to corporate, and the guests received stuff for the program in snail mail. About 3-4 years back the company dumped the program and started a new one. This one you had to sign up for online and you had to have a email address to be a part of it since it was all managed online with your rewards sent directly to your email.

Oh the crap we received from people flipping out about how they didn't have email or even sometimes internet. Usually these were older people, but all we could tell them was sorry, but this is how it is. The company was specifically targeting a certain age group as guests and they were looking towards the future, and at the end of the day companies will do what they think is best for themselves since they are not non-profit organizations.

If Trion can give everyone a PC version then great, but as someone in a earlier post said, the feature is available to everyone now, but its not Trions's problem whether you choose not have a android or i-phone.

Further, it's not just about "free stuff" or "lack of chat" by not having a stand alone program.

It is also one of SECURITY.

Trion also doesn't have a stand alone app to take the place of "Rift Auth" either.


All THREE programs (or two, with one being 2 features in one) should be available as a stand alone program for your PC.

I've been suggesting a web version of the app for months now, they don't listen. It's probably a separate team making the app, they don't seem as competent as the rest of trion.

Maybe it was a job for interns or something? That would explain a lot.

I'm on the fence about this and can understand both sides of the argument. I'm one of those people without a smart phone, it is my choice and I could go out and buy one at anytime. I get that. Of course, I can't help feeling a bit jealous that you can get that many extra ISS without playing the game, but a couple dozen ISS is only like two zone events.

The only thing about this that kind of bothers me is that the app rewards ISS at all, which are used for character advancement. It's not really different than giving out plaques of achievement or marks....

This argument is always the same one. You DO have the same access, you have the access to have a compatible mobile phone and get this app free of charge.

Its the same thing as paying a newspaper/magazine subscription, and people getting newspaper/magazine apps free of charge

It's Rift MOBILE for a reason. Why would you need an app that gives you invasion details, access to your friends list and PMs, and access to your guild chat when you could just log onto the game from said PC?

I'm sure Trion thought about what they were giving to those people, and made a conscious decision that it wasn't OP in any way.

It's available for everyone for free, just Need a mobile device to use it. I'm sure the long range plan is to give Trion another outlet for free advertising, and data mining, so that is what you give up when you download it. Since they added the androids to the mix, the drop rate has been crappy anyway, so you are not missing much.

They have it for Blackberry? No.
They have it for a Windows phone? No.

STOP saying "It's available for everyone for free, just Need a mobile device to use it." because that is a LIE.
