Not really, this is offtopic but anyway. LoL has 30 levels, which each give you 1 slot in a "mastery tree" and 1 slot in a gear-like setup. But once you reach level 30 then yes, its basicly pure skill/familiarity with certain heroes/skills/roles and how well you setup your mastery tree and "gear" (which comes in the form of runes). This means that once you reach Level 30 there isnt any real progression unless you count in climbing the ladder as progression, which doesnt really advance your character.

The point, to my mind, is everyone has an opinion. Like "news" blogs though that often don't fact check and have no editorial oversight, these blogs, this story in particular, usually give no facts to back an assertion. If someone has an opinion fine, but then do what a news paper does. A newspaper editorial typically relates to a recent or on going story that the paper is publishing so the reader can see the facts that for the basis of the opinion. I have yet to see one of the adsense fueled fansite adverts do that. The "writer" speaks their opinion assuming facts rather than supporting them. This is not conducive to any sort of informed debate.

If the writer, as this one seems to say, feels that your readership has "ADHD" and so the supporting facts are left out, one could actually argue that it is irresponsible to post in such a way because all you do us add unsupported opinion onto unsupported angst. I am sure someone would say "hey it's just a video game irresponsible is too strong a word." The thing is it is a business, it has employees and many customers. More than one commercial product has taken big hits based on little more than drama that was fueled by hyperbole.

Don't know why you quoted me. I don't care about people talking about ADHD. My response was to "Oh, and P.S. you know, for a "fan site"-type of thing, you guys sure talk a lot of S*&t about this game... How about we cut back on the doom and gloom drivel?"

I just used it because it seemed to say that the article was speaking a truth/fact and it was short (using a phone makes editing quotes a PITA). In a case like this I play devil's advocate is all. If people want to say the game is suffering (for whatever reason) I expect them to present appropriate evidence I can fact check to support their contention. Other wise I expect them to say "I prefer this and Rift does the opposite" and leave it at that. I get annoyed to no end, whether it is a gaming, sports, political or news blog, when people try to conceal a personal opinion as an observable phenomena with out showing facts that lead to that conclusion. In my experience more often than not when people do not show the evidence, what they are observing either is a false observation OR an accurate observation but the projected their preferences and so misidentified the cause.

. I get annoyed to no end
I am pretty sure I heard a clip from the devs that mentioned this was possibly the last content patch. Now their offices are barren and they moved who knows where maybe Russia since that is where RIFT is starting up their new special edition flying mount. Sure explains why there is no more scott updates like the one he promised first week of January. Wait... what???

I had high hopes for this thread when I started to read it, thinking it was going to be a great discussion of the "I want it now" crowd vs. the "Why rush it" crowd. I see I have been mistaken.

Well some people are tired of veiled adsense revenue adverts which are actually against the forum rules. Some like myself simply have issues with how these posts are written. A coversation about personal oppinion is fine. However the way thelis thread is titled and the "article" is written comes off with an air authority. I was expecting articulable facts to back the assertion made. If the facts seemed solid I would agree. If they could be refuted I might do that too. It gets old however seeing..."your wrong"..."no your wrong"..."oh no it is you who is wrong"..."oh yeah?"

Even the OP admits his blog was written that way but then blamed in the ADHD of his audience. Well if you right a low brow article can i expect a high brow debate?

Why bother with leveling? Completely right. Improve skills and your character instead. Great idea. Leveling is nothing more than unnecessary time sink considering end game activities.

There is no "right" place. You have:
    • People who believe the game doesn't begin until max level vs. the people who feel leveling is the best part and that bypassing the leveling process is skipping content.
    • People who prefer to and/or only ever play one character vs. altoholics.
    • People who raid/enjoy group play vs. people who solo.
    • People who think the game should involve long tedious grinds vs. people who want the game to be more casual friendly.
    • People who want extremely difficult raids that takes copious amounts of time and organization to complete vs. people who just want to experience the content.

    Etc.

The problem is, at least judging by the mentality of the forum posters, no one is okay with a game catering to both (assuming the game could cater to both).
