Unearthing the Dendrome PART II (Extended Cut) Including PART II of the story!

How did Oadagthin expect me to do this? to enter the Defiant stronghold and persuade them to join the fight against Crucia in the Dendrome?, i am but a simple dwarf mage, there is nothing special about me, what if they didn't agree with Ordagthins cause? i have a family and 2 children, my wife couldn't be forced to riase them all by herself. If i was killed surely she would understand that it was for a greater cause? to save countless lives. I had been the one to inform her about the upcoming battle, so it was my responsibility, my rightful place to be the one to inform the Defiants.

pausing at the entrance to the Defiant stronghold in Tempest Bay, looking up and admiring the craftsmanship for a second, maybe this was the last piece of artwork i would see? the entrance was an archway, decorated with silver and gold twigs and leaf patterns, meeting at the top of the archway, the patterns sprouted in to a large, bright golden oak tree. on either side of the arch stood two giant flag poles with the defiant emblem imprinted on large red fabric.

It was quiet, too quiet. The walls protecting the Dendrome where still intact, birds tweeted, the grass glistened with fresh dew, and the sun illuminated the green trees in full flowery bloom. the only noise that broke the quiet peacefulness of the place, was the whooshing noises coming from the porticulum close by, as fighters appeared in to this surreal scene. Ordagthin looked in to the faces of the Gaurdians she had managed to round up to fight, expressions ranged from terror to excitement.

Ordagthin looked at her gold plated pocket watch that had been passed through generations of her family, the dwarf had said noon, it was 15 minutes away, had his information been incorrect? should she have trusted a dwarf, of all people?. Whooosh! a particularly louder noise than usual came from the porticulum, Ordagthin instantly ripped the hammer from her back, turned on the spot to see, Defiants! no less then 5 of them, then, whoosh! another group of defiants came through. The crowd of guardians, reacted in the same way ordagthin had, weapons out pointing at the new arrivals.
"Lower your weapons, we are here to..." CRACK! Smoke ripped through the once clean air, Ordagthin and the crowd where blinded, the smoke was choking, nothing was visible, the darkness was impenetrable.

Finally done with this semester and got to do some art! Made something for a guildie of mine :mdr2: I'm pretty proud of this one since it is my only 2nd texture outfit (the tunic/bodice part), Kzul being my first and more simple texture.

Asha and Auram - The early years

Here's a short scene of Asha and Auram I've written a while ago. I'm rather fascinated by Asha Catari and wanted to explore her life, her relationship with her sister and her early years at Quicksilver college. This is my version of the tale of two sisters. Well, at least the start of a tale. I might continue this one day...

Asha and Auram

Auram frowned.

�It�s too quiet,� she whispered, as she moved silently from tree to tree near the Mirror of Ages.

There were no signs of goblins, yet the smell of burned wood told her that the area was far from deserted.

She tightened her grip around the Yew staff she carried, as she stepped lightly into the sunlit clearing. A small pool mirrored the ancient statue of a warrior, which was carved in its entirety out of a giant tree. It must have taken a long time to accomplish this feat.

Her eyes trailed from the water to the opening below the wooden statue, when she suddenly made out a movement out of the corner of her eye.

With a quick reflex, she brought up her staff and began casting a spell. However, she found herself face down in the dirt a moment later. A knee pressed into her back and she could feel a hand in her neck.

�Silence,� someone breathed into her ear.

The assailant removed the pressure from her back and lifted Auram�s head, so she could breathe.

�May the Vigil curse you,� she spat, before the unknown attacker clamped a hand over her mouth.

�Get up and move slowly backwards,� the voice said quietly.

Auram noticed they increased the distance to the small pool and once they had reached the road, the attacker let her go. She turned around with fury in her eyes, staff raised and ready to strike, when anger gave way to confusion.

�Asha! What in the Vigil�s name got into you? How dare you interfere with my mission! I don�t care if you don�t feel like pleasing the professors and rather pursue your own agenda, but remember that you are a Catari and therefore your actions reflect on our house� on me!� Auram called out, her cheeks turned a blotchy red, as she tried to suppress her angry outburst. Asha�s antics had been a thorn in her side for a long time and this was the last straw.

There was nothing Asha could say to justify her actions, so Auram didn�t even give her a chance to explain, for she continued.

�This is just a game to you, isn�t it? Professor Legama is waiting for my return and you have nothing better to do, than to hinder my efforts to do my best?� She threw at Asha and then glared at her sister.

Asha, on the other hand, just shrugged, which infuriated Auram even more.

�Sometimes I wonder if the same blood runs through our veins,� she spat at Asha and shook her head. �Now, leave me, I am busy,� she added, and waved Asha away, as if she was an annoying insect.

However, her sister wasn�t so easily brushed off.

�I doubt that your Yew staff is enough to take on The Seer, dear sister,� Asha remarked with a wry grin.

�The Seer is here?� Auram raised an eyebrow in surprise. If that is true, then she may have to actually thank Asha for saving her life.

Yet, somehow, she hoped that it wouldn�t come to that. If the news of Asha actually doing something right for a change would start to spread, Auram would certainly be pushed out of the spot light.

�I am not convinced, so let me deal with my current mission and we will discuss this issue back at the college when I return. Now leave me,� Auram said and turned towards the clearing again.

�As you wish,� Asha said with another shrug and walked away. However, once she was out of sight, she turned around, jumped over a fallen tree and doubled back in a wide circle.

Asha and Auram didn�t have much in common. On top of that, Asha had the feeling that her father actually preferred Auram, but Asha never openly discussed her feelings. Instead, she threw herself into her studies� the wrong studies. She tried to find new methods to accomplish the techniques her ancestors had mastered. Much of the ancient Eth empire had been lost and in addition, the Mathosian�s disapproved of the usage of sourcestones. Asha resented the Vigil; she resented the stringent rules. Every time she stepped onto the campus of the Quicksilver College, she felt as if she would suffocate.

But despite all this, Auram was still her sister and Asha would never let her walk willingly into danger.
