So this morning before work I logged in to try and get a few carnage quests done (level 54) and came across this fort called Fort Mazamar. Seeing that I could upgrade the center piece after dispatching the invaders who took over the place, a tool tip came up and stated that the forces of darkness loomed ever neared. Confused but ready, I powered up a lifewell and a turret near by and braced for the onslaught.

HOLY CRAP was this fun. I have been loving rogue tanking but it takes for ever to kill anything in that spec and was never fond of the ranged attacker specs (Tac, MM, and Ranger). I would much rather play my assassin for DPS.

The first waves were easy, picked em up in Assassin spec and burned the leaders quick. Then the waves came more frequently and in greater numbers. I switched over to my tank spec and, well, lets just say that's where the fun began. I grabbed all the invaders, pulled them to the active Lifewell, and held em while the turret whittled down the bunch. Upgrading the turrets allows them to hit AOE and upgrading the Lifewell increases defense and healing.

Anyway this was so much fun and in about 30 mins (~2 onslaughts) I was able to earn about 35% of the next level (54-55), about 2500 planarite, and could play in the spec I wanted to without a slow chain pull of one mob at a time. Oh not to mention about halfway through 2 people came and joined my public group (SO COOL!)

Anyway back on track, I was wondering if there were any other ways to gain XP like this that are not really questing, or dungeon/AI grinding? Anything at all, maybe even things you discovered all on your own.

Is it my imagination, or are the rare mobs in Cape Jule STILL bugged and only spawning once a week following a hotfix? The only time I ever find any rares up is after a hotfix every week, and I haven't even been able to guarantee that they all will spawn. One reset, I managed to kill every rare except Riktor the Bogfiend, with the Iron Dragon spawning twice. Other weeks, I've only seen 3-4 of the rares total after a reset.

Levelling up to 60 I have found myself avoiding killing Mobs because I dont want to get given a carnage quest to go kill another 16 of them, just to abandon it. I know you can hide all carnage quests but I dont want to as I do them from time to time and sometimes on a quest I will need to kill X amount of the mobs anyway, but it doesnt auto accept because I am 25/25 for carnage quests.

What I would like it a little exclamation mark pop into the corner of my windows, just like the loot does once you complete a carnage quest and from there I can accept/decline the quest with two choices

"Dont ask me about this carnage quest again for 30 minutes"

and

"Dont ask me about carnage quests again for 30 minutes"

with the additional option to turn them off completely in settings

Hello!

I currently have a level 42 warrior, and it's a lot of fun. Through a combination of IAs, quests, dungeons, and rifts, I've been leveling up pretty quickly, but I've been racing a bit. As soon as I get high enough level to progress to the next zone, I move on, no matter where I am in the current zone's storyline. I don't even really read the quests - I just follow the marks on the map and go.

This is fine. It's fun and I like combat.

The story does look pretty interesting though, and I'm going to make an alt to read more thoroughly and see the story in a more relaxed way. I'll pretty quickly out-level the content, but I plan on mentoring down to stay on-level (e.g. even if I'm level 33 when in a level 25 part of Gloamwood, I'll be mentored down to 24-25 and stay in that zone).

My question is this:

I understand that I'll get on-level xp for killing monsters, but will I get on-level xp also for turning in the quests I do while mentored down? Using the previous example as a level 33 in a level 25 zone, if I accept, do, and complete a level 25 quest while mentored down to 25, will I get kill xp equivalent to level 33 kills but the xp equivalent to a level 25?

I believe this is the case but wanted to check to be sure. I'm fine with things going much slower because of this, but want to adjust my expectations accordingly at the start if this is how it works.

Thanks!

Good evening guys I just came back to Rift and I am leveling a character from scratch. I was wondering if I could IA/tank my way all the way to lvl 50 (and beyond) keeping my gear up to date with Planar currency, and 5 man drops (I only plan on running the 5 mans once or twice). As I understand some of the middle vanilla leveling zones do not contain IA's which concerns me because I wonder if that will prevent me from getting the currency necessary to get the appropriate upgrades for that level block.

Thanks my plan at 60 is to tank experts, and do IA's, and public raid events such as that Volan dude (spelling?)/Dendrone (as an open world tank).

Nice to know that they have looked into a lot of the concerns stated in the forums re sl artifacts.
I don't know if i heard correctly but the introduction of twisted artifacts to sl, and better artifact achievements.
:punk:

good news!

I hope that the artifact vender also gets loads of nice new fluff/pets/new wand or strange helmets like we saw when sl was launched! as i have loads of lucky coins to spend!

http://img4.imageshack.us/img4/4756/sheepf.jpg

would love to see more of this happening with new wands!
love to see people grouped together having a great time doing non-stabbie things. Its a great sign for the community.

So in my noobie level 28 adventure run to Tempest Bay, along the way through Iron Pine Peak I got distracted by a shiny little pile of snow and scooped it up before running past the killer wind monsters while screaming.

I didn't realize it was a level 45 blue ring with all sorts of stats. Wow, nifty!

But I got this weird de/buff icon, you know? "Crucia's Touch." Completely nondescriptive and since it didn't seem to do anything, I just ignored it in my pile of 5-6 buff icons and 2-3 crafting icons while leveling elsewhere...

But since I've visited Iron Pine Peak on-level, there's this lady's creepy voice muttering in my head. Gah, make it stop! D:

Now, I read somewhere, perhaps a post in the Rift forums, that there's a quest chain that eventually gets rid of that bugger icon, but I haven't found it yet... My Google-fu fails, too.

Can someone tell me where to start the chain and what quests I need to do?

It's chilly. :eek2:
